New Year’s Eve is right next door it has always been a time for looking back to the past, and more importantly, forward to the coming year. It’s a time to reflect on the changes we want (or need) to make and resolve to follow through on those changes.
Whether you’re looking to make a big change, or just tweak a few little things, the new year gives you the perfect opportunity to reflect on your behaviour and resolve to do better going forward.
What do you hope to achieve within the coming year. They’re not really any different than any other challenging goal that we set for ourselves aside from the convenience of the calendar year as a tool for keeping track of our progress. Speaking of which…A resolution paired with a year has a very convenient structure for keeping track of progress. If you want to watch the march of progress, the calendar is set up perfectly for you. 52 weeks. 12 months. Four quarters. At the start of the year, you have a great structure for milestones and progress checks that fall right in place. This is so convenient, in fact, that it makes the new year a particularly convenient time to make a resolution.
Clear measurements of success make it easier to track progress. For example, if you’re seeking to get yourself into better physical shape, stop smoking ,seeking out specific measurements of some kind for your health is very convenient.
The only one disadvantage of this approach is to get disheartened when one fails example, your trying to “quit smoking” and it just didn’t quite work out for that day but one can always pick straight back up if you chose to.

Over 66 percent of adult are considered overweight or obese by recent studies, so it is not surprising to find that weight loss is one of the most popular New Year’s resolutions. Setting reasonable goals and staying focused are the two most important factors in sticking with a weight loss program, and the key to success for those millions of peaple who made a New Year’s commitment to shed extra pounds.
4. Quit Smoking
If you have resolved to make this the year that you stamp out your smoking habit, over-the-counter availability of nicotine replacement therapy now provides easier access to proven quit-smoking aids. Even if you’ve tried to quit before and failed, don’t let it get you down. On average, smokers try about four times before they quit for good. Start enjoying the rest of your smoke-free life! Even Allegheny County is trying to go smoke-free, and it’s taken them a few tries as well. Locally, there are a variety of free support services, hotlines and smoking cessation classes to help you kick the smoking habit.
5. Enjoy Life More
Given the hectic, stressful lifestyles of millions of peaple, it is no wonder that “enjoying life more” has become a popular resolution in recent years. It’s an important step to a happier and healthier you! Consider a healing centre, reconnect with your higher self read books on healing yourself to bring balance to your body, mind and soul. Or just get out and try something new! Take up a new hobby or try your hand at skiing. Go to a theatre performance, or head to the local spa.
6. Quit Drinking
While many people use the New Year as an incentive to finally stop drinking, most are not equipped to make such a drastic lifestyle change all at once. Many heavy drinkers fail to quit cold turkey but do much better when they taper gradually, or even learn to moderate their drinking. If you have decided that you want to stop drinking, there is a world of help and support available. Alcoholics Anonymous offers meetings throughout many country’s . There is also groups for Parents of Teenage Alcohol and Drug Abusers. There are also a number of treatment-based programs, as well as support groups for families of alcoholics.
7. Get Out of Debt
Was money a big source of stress in your life last year? Join the millions of peaple who have resolved to spend this year getting a handle on their finances. It’s a promise that will repay itself many times over in the year ahead.
8. Learn Something New
Have you vowed to make this year the year to learn something new? Perhaps you are considering a career change, want to learn a new language, or just how to fix your computer? Whether you take a course or read a book, you’ll find education to be one of the easiest, most motivating New Year’s resolutions to keep. our Community College offers a wide variety of “lifelong learning” courses, and offer great recreational training for beginners of all ages. Most local colleges and universities offer distance and adult education programs.
9. Help Others
A popular, non-selfish New Year’s resolution, volunteerism can take many forms. Whether you choose to spend time helping out at your local library ,blog like I do, mentoring a child, or building a house, there are many nonprofit volunteer organizations that could really use your help. Or if your time is really in short supply, maybe you can at least find it in you to donate the furniture, clothing and other household items that you no longer need, rather than leaving them out by the curb to fill up our landfills.
10. Get Organized
On just about every New Year resolution top ten list, organization can be a very reasonable goal. Whether you want your home organized a little better so that you can invite someone over on a whim, or your office organized enough that you can find the stapler when you need it, these tips and resources should get you started on the way to a more organized life. reduce the clutter in your life and find peace in your home.

How many times have you been stuck in life? Maybe you’re stuck right now. Whether you feel boxed in by love, money, career, health, or finding your purpose in life, it’s easy for our human selves to become paralyzed. This is especially true when we sense or see that change is coming our way. You want to change, you need to change, you may have even prayed for change to come your way, but once it does you’re like a deer caught in the headlights of an oncoming semi. Do you stay put and potentially smashed to smithereens? Do you run back into the woods? Do you race to the other side?
Staying where you are isn’t a good idea since you won’t get anywhere. Running back to where you came from won’t allow you to grow in any way, shape or form. But…running to the other side? That’s when the fear sets in. What’s over there? What scary things are waiting to harm you? What if you risk it all and the other side is a million times worse than what you already have? This is what paralyzes us. We’d rather deal with the devil we know than the devil we don’t.
You’re Always Changing
I talk a lot about change since this is what we need yet what we fear. Change is difficult, though necessary. Like the saying goes, “Keep doing what you’re doing and you’ll keep getting what you’ve got.” I don’t know about you, but I’d always like my life to get better and better. I’m sure you do too!
If you weren’t meant to change then you’d be completely satisfied with your life just as it is. Are you satisfied? No? Then guess what? It’s time to change!
Here are some words of wisdom from the Brady Bunch song Time to Change: “When it’s time to change, then its time to change. Don’t fight the tide, come along for the ride, don’t you see? When it’s time to change, you’ve got to rearrange who you are into what you’re gonna be. Day by day, it’s hard to see the changes you’ve been through. A little bit of living, a little bit of growing all adds up to you.”
You’ll never be the person you were a year ago, a decade ago, and so on. We should always seek to change our lives in big and little ways. Hey, just one small yet positive change can add up to enormous changes over the course of a year!
Take Action Today
Choose an area of your life that needs the most work. Where are you paralyzed at this point in time? Where are you in a coma, unable to move? Is it your relationship, your job, your finances, your weight? Since you’ve been stuck in this rut for so long there’s no way you’re going to change over night, but don’t let that stop you. I fully believe that when you’re stuck it’s because your aura energy has become like cement and you need to get it moving again.
What small things can you do each day that will add up to big changes and loads of new aura energy? Let’s take a look at some tiny changes that will add up over time.
Looking for love – If you’ve been alone for a while and can’t seem to meet “the one” then take a look at your current soulmate-finding-methods. Obviously it hasn’t worked up to this point. A couple of small things you could do is to join a class at your community college, revamp your look, make a list of the 10 things you need in a relationship (clarification can help clear your aura), join a gym or club, volunteer, take your dog to the dog park, go out with friends at least once a week. Gosh, the list is nearly endless when it comes to changing your energy field around so you can attract Mr. or Ms.Right! But, this is a start.
Choose one and make it a habit then choose another. Soon, you won’t recognize the old you and will have a new life and hopefully a new and wonderful soulmate by your side!
Weight loss – This is always difficult for people, even for me. For those who were born with the“fat gene,” have health issues, are very sensitive, are psychic or intuitive, or just fallen into bad habits, the weight can pile on faster than you can blink. Small changes you can make is to drink a glass of water before each meal, snack on veggies or fruit when you’re hungry between meals, take a walk around the block after each meal or at least once a day, find a fun exercise class you’d enjoy and will help get you out of the house. Again, these small things can add up over time.
Career – Who doesn’t want a better job? Most people are constantly seeking a better career hoping to find their niche in life. What did you want to do when you were a kid? Do you still want to do it now? What are you naturally drawn to? What are you interested in? If you have the skills already, make a deal with yourself that you’ll fill out three job applications every day until you get the job of your dreams. Or, fill out five applications on each of your days off. If you don’t have the skills yet then take some classes until you’ve earned your degree. Not sure if you’d love what you think you’re interested in? Try some free classes online such as those offered by Free-Ed.net, Online Education Database, or Cosmopolitan University. This way you can get in your education and see if you truly want to pursue the field you’ve picked. Studies show that 85% of all college graduates dislike the major they’ve chosen. That’s a lot of wasted time and money!
I know this was a long post and I don’t like going on for too long, but it’s important for you to realize that you don’t have to remain paralyzed with fear or confusion. You simply need to move one foot forward and begin the journey.
