A New Year a new you' a New Year’s resolution is simply a long term goal.

New Year’s Eve is right next door it has always been a time for looking back to the past, and more importantly, forward to the coming year. It’s a time to reflect on the changes we want (or need) to make and resolve to follow through on those changes.

Whether you’re looking to make a big change, or just tweak a few little things, the new year gives you the perfect opportunity to reflect on your behaviour and resolve to do better going forward.

What do you hope to achieve within the coming year.  They’re not really any different than any other challenging goal that we set for ourselves aside from the convenience of the calendar year as a tool for keeping track of our progress. Speaking of which…A resolution paired with a year has a very convenient structure for keeping track of progress. If you want to watch the march of progress, the calendar is set up perfectly for you. 52 weeks. 12 months. Four quarters. At the start of the year, you have a great structure for milestones and progress checks that fall right in place. This is so convenient, in fact, that it makes the new year a particularly convenient time to make a resolution.

Clear measurements of success make it easier to track progress. For example, if you’re seeking to get yourself into better physical shape,  stop smoking ,seeking out specific measurements of some kind for your health is very convenient.

The only one disadvantage of this approach is to get disheartened when one fails example, your trying to “quit smoking” and it just didn’t quite work out for that day but  one can always pick straight back up if you chose to.

Tradition dictates that every 365 days, you should try to kick bad habits and start your life anew a new year a new you. So sit down with a cup of coffee OR tea, a paper and a pen, and reflect: What kinds of New Years Resolutions will you make for yourself this January 1st?

1. Spend More Time with Family & Friends

More than 50% of peaple vow to appreciate loved ones and spend more time with family and friends. this year  Make plans to meet up with friends for an evening  at a favourite  restaurant or take the family to one of these popular Pittsburgh places for family fun. Work shouldn’t always come first!

2. Fit in Fitness

The evidence is in for fitness. Regular exercise has been associated with more health benefits than anything else known to man. Studies show that it reduces the risk of some cancers, increases longevity, helps achieve and maintain weight loss, enhances mood, lowers blood pressure, and even improves arthritis. In short, exercise keeps you healthy and makes you look and feel better. Why not make this the time to start getting in shape for one of these popular Pittsburgh Area Charity Walks, Runs or Rides?

3. Tame the Bulge

Over 66 percent of adult  are considered overweight or obese by recent studies, so it is not surprising to find that weight loss is one of the most popular New Year’s resolutions. Setting reasonable goals and staying focused are the two most important factors in sticking with a weight loss program, and the key to success for those millions of peaple who made a New Year’s commitment to shed extra pounds.

4. Quit Smoking

If you have resolved to make this the year that you stamp out your smoking habit, over-the-counter availability of nicotine replacement therapy now provides easier access to proven quit-smoking aids. Even if you’ve tried to quit before and failed, don’t let it get you down. On average, smokers try about four times before they quit for good. Start enjoying the rest of your smoke-free life! Even Allegheny County is trying to go smoke-free, and it’s taken them a few tries as well. Locally, there are a variety of free support services, hotlines and smoking cessation classes to help you kick the smoking habit.

5. Enjoy Life More

Given the hectic, stressful lifestyles of millions of peaple, it is no wonder that “enjoying life more” has become a popular resolution in recent years. It’s an important step to a happier and healthier you! Consider a healing centre, reconnect with your higher self read books on healing yourself to bring balance to your body, mind and soul. Or just get out and try something new! Take up a new hobby or try your hand at skiing. Go to a theatre performance, or head to the local spa.

6. Quit Drinking

While many people use the New Year as an incentive to finally stop drinking, most are not equipped to make such a drastic lifestyle change all at once. Many heavy drinkers fail to quit cold turkey but do much better when they taper gradually, or even learn to moderate their drinking. If you have decided that you want to stop drinking, there is a world of help and support available. Alcoholics Anonymous offers meetings throughout  many country’s . There is also  groups for Parents of Teenage Alcohol and Drug Abusers. There are also a number of treatment-based programs, as well as support groups for families of alcoholics.

7. Get Out of Debt

Was money a big source of stress in your life last year? Join the millions of peaple who have resolved to spend this year getting a handle on their finances. It’s a promise that will repay itself many times over in the year ahead.

8. Learn Something New

Have you vowed to make this year the year to learn something new? Perhaps you are considering a career change, want to learn a new language, or just how to fix your computer? Whether you take a course or read a book, you’ll find education to be one of the easiest, most motivating New Year’s resolutions to keep. our Community College   offers a wide variety of “lifelong learning” courses, and  offer great recreational training for beginners of all ages. Most local colleges and universities offer distance and adult education programs.

9. Help Others

A popular, non-selfish New Year’s resolution, volunteerism can take many forms. Whether you choose to spend time helping out at your local library ,blog like I do, mentoring a child, or building a house, there are many nonprofit volunteer organizations that could really use your help. Or if your time is really in short supply, maybe you can at least find it in you to donate the furniture, clothing and other household items that you no longer need, rather than leaving them out by the curb to fill up our landfills.

10. Get Organized

On just about every New Year resolution top ten list, organization can be a very reasonable goal. Whether you want your home organized a little better so that you can invite someone over on a whim, or your office organized enough that you can find the stapler when you need it, these tips and resources should get you started on the way to a more organized life.  reduce the clutter in your life and find peace in your home.

Temptation ! ..need help..? Prayer is always an open line.

Temptation is something we all face in our every day life, no matter what religion or belief we follow if any at all. It can and will in some cases lead to lust and self-destructive behaviours. A lot of individuals believe they have more restraint than they actually possess—ultimately leading to poor decision-making as most of us miscalculate the amount of temptation we could truly handle, in turn leading to a greater likelihood of indulging impulsive or addictive behaviour.

 “We expose ourselves to more temptation than is wise, and subsequently we have millions of people suffering with obesity, addictions and other unhealthy lifestyles”

Some people are not good at anticipating the power of their urges, and those who are the most confident about their self-control are the most likely to give into temptation, some people often have difficulty appreciating the power of impulsive states. People in a “cold state” (not experiencing hunger, anger, sexual arousal, etc.) tend to underestimate how a “hot” impulsive state will influence their behaviour.

There are a few practical things however, that we can do to grow stronger and smarter in our struggle against s such emotion. “The key is simply to avoid any situations where vices and other weaknesses thrive and, most importantly, for individuals to keep a humble view of their willpower.” You can learn how to avoid temptation by practicing these five steps.

  1. Recognize your tendency and ability to control your impulses, in response to temptation such as, food, material, people, work, greed, drug craving and sexual arousal influences and much more.
  2. Walk away from it when you feel its heaviness, and you can feel it.
  3. Resist with the Word of truth ..You must admit you have self-control before you can use it.
  4. “Refocus”.. It’s all right letting yourself go, as long as you can get yourself back .
  5. Repeat the above quickly when you fail.

Temptations first manifest them-selves as split second thoughts. If you are losing ground in your thoughts, the temptation will find greater resistance if you take them before the holy spirit this will give you more strength of mind than you may think .

The best day of your life will be the one on which you decide your life is your own.  No apologies or excuses.  No one to lean on, rely on, or blame.  This gift is yours – life  is an amazing journey when you manifest it the right ways – and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. 

Regular prayer is essential for maintaining intimacy with the holy spirit through your inner-self, personal relationship with spirit and  personal responsibility.

The communication line of prayer is always open!

Just a thought: Nothing makes it easier to resist temptation than a proper up bringing, and a sound set of values from the start for your children.

IT IS BEST.

We are allowed to be negative it is gods given free will, but it is better for our own well-being to be positive.

Focus on use and say kind words.

 

Focus on the energy of kindness within what you say each day. Your compassion conveys a gentle and supportive form of love. its energy alone is uplifting and nurturing, both for the giver and the receiver. When caring words are conveyed, a heart  connection forms, joining everyone involved. Its an alliance of love were everyone who speaks or hears the kindness bathes in its healing power  together, speak kind words as often as you can and feel the gifts, the feelings that using kind words have to offer.

The child you once were still lives.

Allow and express your inner child … Love your  inner child like you would love a child you created. You would protect and fight to the death for your own child and this inner you, is your child. Give birth to yourself. Let your child come out and play now and again. It is o.k. to play with toys, colour, run bare foot around the garden, play on the park, jump up and down, lick your partners face, shove an hair up the nose of the person that’s sitting next to you, Let your self be very silly and carefree. If you can do all this, you are so on your way to taking the power out of those that wont let you be , gaining control over the child within you again Its really good for your soul., not allowing any person to make you unhappy or sad, or have any power over your feelings . AS OF NOW YOU ARE NO LONGER A VICTIM , YOU ARE A VERY PROUD SURVIVOR!!! LET  YOUR INNER child out try it now.
